WTB RPM XL Barrels

Post by ND_shooter »

Hello,

I'm trying to find some RPM XL barrels in the following calibers:

-22 Hornet
-30-30 Win
-30 Carbine
-30-40 Krag
-32-20 Win (308 bore)
-30 Herrett
-30 Merrill
-308 Win
-307 Win
-357 Magnum
-357 Maximum
-7mm TCU

I have the XL frame, not the Hunter frame. I would be interested in buying a Hunter frame as well if someone wants to part ways with theirs. Please let me know if you're interested in parting ways with any barrels or frames. I would potentially be interested in other calibers as well. Thanks!

I thought that RPM barrels had to be fitted at the factory, and that they are not interchangeable like TC barrels?

Hey Melvin,

I bought an RPM XL pistol earlier this year with three barrels; to my surprise only one barrel was fitted to the frame. Upon doing some reading online, most XL barrels have the pivot screw in very similar locations (within (.015")). I machined a new pivot screw with a slightly smaller diameter in the middle for my other barrels and have had great success shooting 270 Ren and 7mm Merrill with it. It locks up tight and the pivot screw doesn't bear load like the contender pivot pin.

I don't mind doing machining projects so I'm not too concerned about barrel fit up since the locking part is consistent across all barrels. If the hole doesn't line up closely, I'm not too worried about doing some welding and machining to the pivot tang. I'm mostly just interested in getting into more calibers since I love this platform. If getting new barrels means getting a new frame along with it, that's plenty fine with me too.

Thanks for reaching out, I appreciate it!

Good deal! I’ll keep an eye out for barrels, etc.
