Joined the forum over a year and a half ago, finally figured I should join IHMSA period. Application went in the mail yesterday. Though I have never pulled a trigger in a match, nor on a regulation target, I thought what the heck. Still looking for someplace close, relatively close, that I can do a little observation at first. I figured I've got the equipment for it, from a Max or two on down to a couple T/C's in a few different calibers. It's just that the eyes may not be as good as what they once were. I may have brought up the range location thing in a previous post, not sure. If I remember correctly a place called Black Ash has a range (they are about 20 miles from me) but they are non sanctioned. There was another place in Ohio, it was about 2 hr drive or so, if I remember correctly. I'm located just above 80, NW Pa., place called Franklin, Oil City area. If someone can point me in a direction for a place to shoot, I may give it hell this spring! Jack.

Hi Jack,
I am from Mercer but currently live in New Castle, PA. Black Ash shoots NRA syle short range. All shot standing. I believe the distances are: Chickens at 40 meters, Pigs at 60 meters, Turkeys at 77 meters and Rams at 100 meters. They have 1/5th scale and 3/8ths scale for the 22's. 1/2 scale for centerfire. At Black Ash you can shoot 22lr in a handgun, target rifle or lever gun. Centerfire 'pistol cartriges' can be shot out of a handgun or lever rifle. Your max's are little big for this. Common in the handgun is 22 hornet. I also see 44 mags, 357 mags. I use a 30 carbine and a 22 hornet.

The Ohio range would be Tusco. It's about an hour and 40 minutes to the range from the PA/OH line on 80. Great group of people there. Here there are plenty of options. You can run your maximum on the 200 meter big bore course. Almost any handgun you bring here will have a class to shoot.

Usually if Black Ash isn't shooting on an IHMSA weekend my brother and I go. Shoot me a pm if you want to meet up.

Hoss, thank you. Tusco was the one I was thinking about. I shot the winter skeet league at Black Ash for a few years back in the late 80's through the 90's. Also shot in a summer skeet leak for Sandy Lake. Let me know when the dates are and I'll see what I can do, thanks again, Jack
