Paper Newsletter

Post by Rodent »

I thought that the newsletter is now online. Why in the hell are we wasting money printing the damned thing? I got the latest one last night. QUIT SENDING ME THE DAMNED PRINTED VERSION!!!!!!!!!! QUIT WASTING MONEY!!!!!!!!! I have called headquarters and emailed headquarters asking to please stop sending it to me.

If we have this much money to waste, why is everyone bitching and moaning about money?

All the tasks within this organization are done by volunteers, please be patient with them. Its a very small group doing the best they can, maybe we should ask how we can pitch in to make things the way "we" think they should be.
It's always easier to push down than to lift up,let's take the high road and keep IHMSA alive.

members do offer to help, members ask questions on this forum and through email to the board, members ask for ways to help promote the sport.

Volunteers or not, no answers or tasks are given to the members that want to help.

I have been a member for about 8 months. Being patient is laughable at this point. I saw some major flaws in the way new members join. This was in my 1st week or 2. I sent a lengthy email to the editor of the paper. I got a ho-hum reply from the editor who also copied the IHMSA president on the reply.

Ther is talk of gun powders becoming obsolete because silhouette shooting is down. Silhoutte bullets are on production back burner. That is not good for manufactures to think this way about the sport. Where there is smoke there is fire. Put out the fire.

I would realy like to see someone step up to take charge and show that they actually give a proverbial shit.

hosspower, I am region 2 director and I promise you I give a shit!! I can not do it all by myself though. been doing this for 34 years and don't have plans to stop in the future. I very seldom hear from the other board members. I have e-mailed some of the board members about the new cartridges for field pistol but never got a reply. my shooting will be limited because I lost my range last year, but will travel whenever I can to shoot somewhere. if any of you want the region 2 director's job just say the word and it can be yours. allen

ole95, you may be right.

wheelgun7360, you are one I know care. I'm sure a lot of people thank you for that. Me included. Just by the thread when you went after a night shift to setup the range for 2 shooters. They didn't let you but it speaks volumes.

Cindy is a volunteer and she does a lot. Nobody complains about the work she puts in.

This is the IHMSA forum. A place where members have discussion about IHMSA. A board member or a spokesperson should be able to come on here and answer those questions. Nobody does so members get upset and vent on this forum. This does not help any potential new member. Personally i don't care about financial reports or other questions that have come up. Other members do and they deserve answers.

I have read most of the threads on this forum. One question asked was if the IHMSA paper had a copyright? The person asking wanted to make a copy of the cover for advertisement at gun shops. No answer was given on the forum. I don''t the if it were answered by PM or another means but why not answer yes or no on the forum so others know. My sugestion would be to go ahead and advertise copyright or not if your intent is to promote the sport.

Months back I sent an email to every email address listed on the match schedule spread the word. To use the forum and facebook for match results, etc. I got 4 responces. 2 said they liked the idea and they would try, 1 said that for showing interst here is what I am doing, the other was 'it's odd a new member would care when I can't even get an answer about IHMSA software.'

A few days ago I was emailing with 260striker. I said I had just turned 35. He said he was 69 and hoped this would still be around when i was that age. I asked myself that question and with the age of current members and not many new ones joining I'm sure you know my answer.

I know I am a nobody member and If anyone is taking offense then so be it. This is my view. A 20 minute drive to the local range to punch paper is starting to sound more enjoyable again. I'm not into baskets.

Hosspower brings up some valid points. Is the paper copyrighted? With it being on line now a copy can be more easily produced and displayed at gun stores and the like. Of all the people reporting scores most are in Region II along with Ia, Or, and Oh. There are people that stumble onto this site that would like to see the scores. I know most match directors do not send a report to HQ immediately following a match. They sometimes wait months. Some of my local shooters email me a day or two after the match and ask why haven't I posted the scores.

After I lost the ability to shoot in the "flop" position because of both shoulders being injured, I tried to get a physically challenged card. After about 6 months I gave up. I have since broken my back, So I just found ways to shoot safely and I feel without artificial support and let it go. I do what I have to do,shoot from a table and chair. I have been running or help running a match since 1986. I always felt obligated to do what I said I would do and try to answer all questions of me.

Hosspower, I guarantee no one views you as a nobody. Please don't let this forum influence your thinking and enjoyment of the sport. I cannot explain why the board members do not participate here and provide answers. Totally beyond my comprehension. This web page should be our focal point. I believe a lot can be accomplished here though. We are in transition as an organisation. The shooting season is about to begin and more will develop within the next few months. I personally have contacted our new Vice President and he is very concerned about the well being of IHMSA. Unfortunately he has suffered this winter with heath issues.
I see improvement within our future. I have new confidence in IHMSA. I personally plan to focus on the game at hand and not the politics of this forum. With that said, I also agree we need feedback from someone with authority to answer all the unanswered questions.

I didn't realize that it was down to Dave and Cindy Smith running the store each day.

that's right
Before we had someone doing the whole thing basically keeping this boat afloat she made I believe $20000 a year. But people on this forum griped about it
said we didn't have the money to "pay someone" she caught wind of it saw the writing on the wall and turned in her notice.
luckily Cindy Smith came to our rescue and bail our butts out. Then Her husband got sick and she did what she should have done put her family 1st.
Which I guess some of the self center people here felt like running the business end of IHMSA(which she was doing for FREE) was more important that Dave heath.
instead of Bashing we need to send Cindy a doz. roses and a thank you card every week.!!! and Hope she does not leave us high and dry which I would not blame her
Our president has give us notice that this his her last term
So I guess anyone here that want's to lead us to the promise land the door is wide open just put your name on the dotted line ~o)
