I know I don't read much about them as for as IHMSA
but a friend of mine is some what interested in shooting Small bore and Field pistol
and has a Encore rifle. He ask if it could be converted to a pistol and used .
Was the Encore ever offer with a barrel that would be legal in SB or field pistol
I know there some what heavier than a Contender would weight be a factor as well
Thanks
Encore

Re: Encore
You may convert the Encore rifle to handgun configuration by using the handgun barrel, grip, and fore-end. I believe there are rimfire barrels for the Encore. Check Ed's TC www.edstc.com for barrel choices and offerings. You must adhere to Federal laws by not using the rifle stock with barrels shorter than 16''. rp

Re: Encore (make weight?)

I am getting back to IHMSA. So my questions may seem silly.
Does the T/C Encore make production weight?
Much obliged,

Re: Encore
It does make weight. We have some shot here at my club.

Re: Encore
The Encore was offered as a rifle and a pistol. If the frame was registered originally as a rifle then it is illegal to convert it to a pistol. One of those BATF gray areas. If the Encore was originally registered as a pistol, it is legal to convert to a rifle and then convert back to a pistol. Personally I don't know how anyone would know the original configuration as long as the right components are used to make a legal pistol or rifle. I had an Encore in 7BR years ago and was very accurate but just a little too big for my hands. Grew up with Contenders so it just didn't feel the same.
