I would like to announce that I will be hosting an additional monthly Smallbore and Fifth Scale match in Louisiana at a new location in the northern part of our state. Saline Creek Silhouette will offer a limited schedule for 2015 and is located in Goldonna, LA. We will shoot on the third weekend of the month starting in March and continuing through June. The facility I have available is a very basic configuration with only one bank of targets at each distance which will be in yards in an effort to duplicate our Gonzales facility which is also in yards. I will initially offer this as a two day event to accommodate the most people possible. I have had some people request a Saturday match and others prefer Sunday. Since I am now retired and have the time, I will try the two day event which may also have the added benefit of a slower pace for myself by spreading the work load over two days. I plan to have a covered firing line and shooting platforms.
I am continuing my effort to acquire a new larger facility near this area of the state so that we can again begin to offer Big Bore matches in Louisiana. The search continues and I will provide updates as information becomes available.
NOTE!!!!! I have posted this also in the "A Place To Shoot" area below.

Re: New range for 2015
Great News!!! OH is a little far to drive but I wish you the best and hope you have a good turnout. Thanks for taking on the effort to get a range going and I will keep my fingers crossed about the potential for a new big bore range. I urge all the LA shooters to pitch in with a helping hand. Looking forward to some good match reports.

Sorry highstandard40, now I see that you wrote both posts. Your memories of Major was a great read especially getting those pictures to me. I don't know you and never met Major, but that gave me chills.

Re: New range for 2015
I have been putting in some long hours working on the new facility. Here is an early look at the range. Bear in mind it is not yet complete. I will have some large steel plates behind each bank of targets in lieu of berms. The plates will be painted white and targets will be black. I am doing this because the range is in a heavy canopy wooded area and the ambient light during the day changes by the minute. I experimented with several options and the white back plates were the best option. I have the plates fabricated but they are not yet painted so they are not installed yet. But I wanted to get this photo posted to give everyone an early bird look at Saline Creek Silhouette.

What an interesting venue to shoot in! We do field target in the woods & it is a hoot. Know you'll truly enjoy it.

Re: New range for 2015
I plan to retire in time for the 2017 season. Diana & I look forward to shooting wt your range and visiting with you again. We had a great time at the Reg 2 match at Jackson MS, and hope to travel a bit when work doesn't get in the way.
