Bad eyes, Making the front post wider?

I started using all .100 notch rear and making the front sight as wide as possible. I also found I needed to leave a littlemore light gap on the sides of the front post, so don't make the front so wide that you have little light gap

Once I started suffering from "Old Eye Syndrome" I found that a wider front sight was my friend. My experience is much the same as Melvin. I can still get by with an .080" rear notch though.

Several years ago I switched over to a set of Champion shooting glasses with the adjustable iris (same as a merit only works with the champion glasses). I also use a +.25 diopter lense for the shooting eye. I do not wear corrective lenses.........yet, but do use cheaters for reading at home. I can still shoot my .062 bomars but do find I need wider light gaps than I used to. I have both .062 & .080 but have not had to got to .100 yet.

I have been using Champion glasses for 10 + years. Almost always with the iris about as tight as it will go. I mean I am looking through a tiny peep hole. Depending on the light conditions I vary between .25,.50 or .75 diopter. Has anyone else noticed how the sights on your revolver give the best sight picture. I have used a wide front blade for years. On my FA single shot I have gone to a
.100 rear notch and a wide front blade with an easily visible light bar on the sides. As we have to wait here in Idaho for decent shooting weather I have found that it is usually mid season or a little later for my eyes to get in shape. Open sights are becoming more of a struggle each year but I still prefer it over shooting scoped classes. Unl. Half Scale as well as the shoot offs are about as fun as it can get. Just keep working at it and you will eventually get more comfortable. If it was real easy it wouldn't be fun.

I really can't decide which way I swing!
My BF and F.A's all have fat front posts and my XP with IWSG sights has a really thin one so much so that the front post fits between the legs of the BB rams at 200yds. Some days my merit is fully open, other days closed. I never know which way it will be until I get down behind the gun. I am months away from my 60th and my eyes are seemingly all over the place each time. I have thought of setting all front posts and rear gaps to be consistent but not sure where the heck that is.
