This makes total sense to me. Spread the championship matches out so they aren't all at the same time, get people traveling to different states and meeting new people/ranges. And besides, the season really begins with the end of the Int'l shoot, thus starting a new "season" in preparation for the next int'l. That is how I view it at least.kg4tyr wrote:This has never made sense to me. Why hold a championship match near the beginning of the season? Re: Saturday Night Check In 5/12
I get your point, but the range was pretty much done, and an "inspector" from the local sheriffs dept checked it out and he was positively ecstatic with the way they built it.YoungBlut wrote:They do it to hold back the shooters. They are just building hoops to jump through hoping the cost will prohibit the project form happening. Around my area I have seen huge arguments start up over newer local shooting ranges trying to get started. The locals demonstrate, call the news, and make a terrible fuss over putting up a little old indoor range. They cite, safety issues, pollution, and potential noise issues as a reason to scrub these projects. Its a shame. People will own guns and practice their sport regardless if ranges are available, and I would rather have them be able to practice their shooting sport in a supervised environment with professional saftey standards than have to go to some guys field and just let loose any old way they feel like. The sad thing is, here in Georgia I can think of good tracts of land that are public property which have been cleared but dont see use other than being a local teenage make out spot on the weekend nights. Public ranges out to 500 yards would be a great use of the space.

Justin, I guess that makes sense, except some of can't travel to other states, etc. I'd be happy just to have a state championship in SB somewhere close enough to go to.Justin Cider wrote:This makes total sense to me. Robert: I dont know anyone who does but the principle would be the same minus speed limitations based upon your hardness of alloy. I have a site I know of for designing your own mold and while it doesnt give bc it does give suggested twist and throat dimensions as well as dimensions for case OAL and seating depth. You can even play with alloy compositions to see how it affects the likely hood for voids and other factors. You can find a source for bullets and put in the data they give you into that program to see if it would work with your gun accurately. Or if you cast your own you can just design a nice bullet to your liking and order a mold from them. http://www.mountainmolds.com/

kg4tyr: Well thats a bummer but like you said folks stick their nose where it doesnt belong. I guess they would rather folks go hide in the woods and fire off into oblivion instead of doing it in a controlled environment. I hope it works out for you.

yes they provide some insurance, but our's was only for $500,000. that's not nearly enough if someone sues the club. we had to have at least $5,000,000 according to some of our members that do this for a living. our insurance will be over $4,000 a year which is cheap for a club of our size.

Re: Saturday Night Check In 5/12
Thanks, this indoor range was supposed to open in November, then January, and it goes on and on and on. Just heard about this whole architect thing in the last week. The way it's going they're going to run out of money before they can get it open.YoungBlut wrote:kg4tyr: Well thats a bummer but like you said folks stick their nose where it doesnt belong.
