I have an older G1 frame that has the easy open conversion. I have had the G1 frame about a year and it has worked perfectly up til now. A few weeks ago I started getting light primer strikes on the 22 LR barrel. Never an issue with my centerfire barrels. The firing pins on the 22 LR barrel looked original so I swapped in new pins and springs. Worked great for about 100 rounds and then half way through our match last night it happened again. Seems like there is something else going on but not sure where to look?
Secondly, I had my G2 frame with me so I tried to put the 22LR barrel on the G2 frame to finish the match but the barrel will not lock. The 22 LR barrel is an older TC barrel with the one piece lug. Any thoughts?

Re: Contender Issues
on the G1 frame, you might have a weak hammer spring or the screw holding the interlock safety in place may be coming loose. to check the hammer spring, just pull the hammer back. if you do not feel any tension about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way back in pulling hammer, you need a new hammer spring. These need replacement a lot. if the interlock safety screw comes loose, the safety bar may hit the hammer and prevent a good strike. On the picture, the interlock safety screw is 88B.
On the G2 frame, sounds like you need some fitting to get barrel to work. probably bolts are too big to fit that Frame and Some older barrels have been found to not work on newer G2 frames without some fitting.
Jim Henry of Barstow, CA can fit everything for you in probably. If you ever get up to a Match at LASC, he is at almost every match and can do a full checkout and fitting in less than an hour for you. he is probably one of the best TC gunsmiths in the USA.

Re: Contender Issues
I would also suggest you swap out the old one piece lug for the newer two piece style. If the barrel lug does not go under the shelf in the frame far enough it will not fully rotate the safety and will cause light strikes by the hammer. HausofArms has TC parts now and I think they have the newer barrel lugs. Years ago when TC was still TC, they would send you the newer lugs just for the asking. Those days are long gone. Also what Dan said is good advice.

Re: Contender Issues
I was thinking it may have something to do with the interlock. I will check the screw. I replaced most of the springs when I got the frame so I don't believe it is related to that. The light strikes are only happening with this barrel so it sounds like it might be the locking bolts.
Thanks for the heads up on Jim Henry. I prefer to do my own work but it is good to have alternatives.
