IHMSA forum restricted???

Just got an email from a non-IHMSA member who would like to join our forum.
Apparently when he tries to login in the page asks for his IHMSA number and will not allow him to complete the registration/login.
Is the IHMSA forum restricted to only IHMSA members and when did that happen?
I don't know if there is any info that should be restricted to just IHMSA members and the forum might be of interest to non members.

are you sure he is on the right forum? The old Aimoo forums are still running since we have no control over them.

No, it is not restricted and is not setup to ask for your IHMSA number. BUT, it is running a background program that checks the persons IP address and email address against a database of known spammers, and will prevent registration if they show up.

Dan, I went to the registration screen and there is a box where you are asked to enter your IHMSA member number or N/A.
Apparently the N/A option is not working and kicks you back to ask for the member number again.
I did not try to register again but this is what is stopping my non-member friend from registering.
Sent you some emails with more info.

ok, I found the problem. the workaround is to Enter a 0 instead of N/A, and it will let you finish the registration process.

It is also the same problem that will not let a life member to enter an 'L' in their membership number. I just have to find out where he added this..

ok, now that I have found it, I made some changes, First it now says 0 instead of N/A.

The other is that users can now change their IHMSA# in the user control panel, under Profile.

But, I have a problem that may be better to ignore. To allow letters in the IHMSA# would require me to wipe out every members IHMSA number. this may cause more headaches to fix than just leaving it alone.

Dan, My friend got registered but he gets some URL not recognized message when he tries to login.
Hope you don't mind but I gave him your email address so he can better explain this latest problem.
He is Peter Resetz in MI and is looking to get back into shooting IHMSA again.
