Well I just shot my first PHLC entry with my BFR 30-30 and cast bullets. Boy is that thing big especially with a scope. Lots of fun though. Doubt this would be my hunting gun, I'm too old for that, but always wanted a BFR 30-30 so now I can shoot steel with it in PH.
Now my question. I haven't weighed this gun/scope but it might not make the UAS weight limit. If I wanted to shoot 1/2 size with this gun, what category would I be shooting in and how would the classed be determined? I'm just dumb enough to try the 1/2 size critters with my BFR. Also, if someone had a very heavy .22 hunting rig that was over the UAS limit but they wanted to shoot FS, what would be their category and classes? Maybe these type of entries will just be fun shoots.
Has anyone taken a PH gun (BB or .22) and shot the 1/2 size or FS targets?
Why do I always have more questions than answers???

If it is overweight - shoot it anyway as a non-sanctioned entry ! And besides, the other shooters should not care - you are the one that has to hold up that beast !

Re: What categories and classes?
you do know that you are allowed 7 lbs in UAS? I don't know of many that will go overweight anymore!

Dan, My last rule book says 6 pounds for UAS gun. Do I have an outdated rule book?

Re: What categories and classes?
Concerning shooting a PH gun in BB Half Scale - I have done it. I have a TC 14" 22 Hornet barrel from MGM - 1-10" twist. I shoot a mid-range load with a Hornady 55 gr. Spire Point. I have fired it twice in BB Half Scale. 1st time I scored a 39x40, missing the first ram. All hit targets fell (luck? perhaps). Second time I scored a 37x40. Again, all hit targets fell. It is definitely a "hoot" to shoot this small caliber at these targets ! PS: This barrel is AMAZINGLY accurate ! I am into my 4th season firing it, and I have not missed a regular match target with it in PH - all 40x40's !
