Rcbs 35-200 in 38 cases for 357
Does anyone have experience with this combination? I am looking for starting loads for a Dan Wesson. I have 296, 4227, 2400, hs6 and lil gun on hand

I sometimes use that bullet in my Dan Wesson 15-2 357 Mag, but I use regular 357 Mag cases. I just seat them to an overall length that will fit in the cylinder and then crimp over the ogive of the bullet. I use CCI 550 primer and Win. 296. I won't post my charge weight because this is an unpublished load. It does work well for me. If you think about it, this is the same as using the 38 Special case but you will have more case supporting the bullet and the full length of the 357 case is a better fit for the cylinder.

Any issue with bullets moving in the case under recoil?

I never had any problems with that. Once you have that bullet seated as mentioned, it offers a lot of bullet pull. I know of another IHMSA shooter who loads that bullet the same as me, but he uses 231. He never experienced any bullet jump either. I preferred to use a slower powder.

I've used that bullet for over 30 years in my Dan Wesson Super Mag, and my TC 10". I used 19 grains of H-110 in the Wesson, and 15 grains of same powder in the TC, in Remington .357 mag cases. Small rifle primers in SuperMag, small magnum pistol primers in .357.

Since the OP is asking about loads for what I assume is a 357 Mag DW revolver, I would suspect that the load you list for the 357 T/C, 15 gr of H110, would be far too heavy for his revolver. I was unable to find any published data for that 200 gr bullet that is intended for 357 Mag revolvers. I used 296, which is identical to H110, and found what I feel is safe load in my DW 15-2 revolver, and it is nowhere near 15 grains. Especially seating as deep as I am doing.LOCKHART wrote:I've used that bullet for over 30 years in my Dan Wesson Super Mag, and my TC 10". You're probably right, that load is what I used in my contender. Probably a little stout for those small frame Dan Wesson's.

Re: Rcbs 35-200 in 38 cases for 357
I am going to see if I can get my hands on some of the RCBS 357-180sil bullets. I was able to try the 35-200 with ww296 and didn't have pressure signs. Unfortunately, they were hitting way to the right of the target and I didn't get a group measurement. It was too hot to keep fussing with it
