Re: 7mm Bullet Nose Sizing Drama
Oddly, it turns out my bullet lubricant for shooting purposes makes a terrible sizing lube! Super fantastic for shooting, though.jmoore wrote:The "S" bushing trick seems to be just the thing. Once I had removed the protective gunk from the H&I die set and replaced it with real lubricant, that is! Thought I was going to break the press for a while. Amazing what a thin film of the wrong petroleum product will do....
Turns out RemOil works well for sizing. Couldn't tell you why, but forces required, especially backing out the bullet nose are greatly reduced.
THEN tumble lube with Ben's Liquid Lube. Drama solved.

JM, I use the Lee case sizing lube to size my bullet noses. Only a tiny amount is needed on about every 5th bullet. The Lee lube is water base so it does not leave any residual oil on the bullet.

Will try the Lee case lube on the next batch. It does better than anything else on brass. Can't remember if it was tried for bullets, but I seem to think it was.
