Good to see a 38 Super in FP. What is a Foster? I'm guessing it was some sort of 1911.

A Foster apparently is a cosmetic blem version of a Caspian. At least that's what Mike told me. It also was probably the noisiest entry! Even more than the usual .22 Hornets.

A good turn out for what was forecast to be a "rain on and off all day" Saturday! But only a wee sprinkle during the excellent lunch break.

Lots of revolver action, too!

This was before everybody showed:

Some more photos:

Wish that clean bank of chickens were mine. Have had the worst time at the 25 yard line in Field Pistol Production over the past few months.
5 Chickens and then 10 pigs? Madness!

Image
A .38 comes out to play

Image
And a Ruger .45 Colt. Bullets at about walking pace! Fun to listen...and listen and...clank! on a ram.

Image
Atomicdogg's 10mm wasn't. Thinking mainspring tension screw backed out?

Finally! All chickens down for a change:

Another .45Colt chambered revolver. My usual spotter was away this match, so things got tough on turkeys and rams
with both this and the "first time out" .44 below. Not the trigger puller's fault at all...nope... ;)

Yet another .44, running .44 Spl cases:

Jonathan, Thanks for reminding me about the S&W mainspring adjustment screw; it has been so long since I fired one of my S&Ws, I totally forgot about it. Immediately after reading your post, I pulled the gun from the safe and checked the screw, and it was backed out a couple of turns. After correcting that, the hammer drop was noticeably stronger. Wish you had reminded me during the match, I would have avoided having almost one out of every 5 rounds in the full moon clip failing to go off. But too late now, because in February, I will be using the S&W 686-1, 357 Mag with 4 position adjustable front sight.
Poor score, but I really enjoyed shooting the revolver !!!!

I probably didn't holler loudly enough. But folk often can't hear me even without gunfire and earmuffs.

I have an 8 3/8" and a 6" 686 with the AFS. The longer barreled revolver is currently wearing a 3-9x scope in hopes of fining a good 100yd cast bulet load that is in the milder arena of loads. Otherwise I'm going to need some alloying material for all the scrap lead out back of the house! If I gotta spend money on that, might as well get store bought bullets...

Kurt has an AFS 8 3/8" 586 in which he's been trying different loads. May have settled on plated bullets or maybe that's the .41.

Maybe after deer season my 625 .45 Colt will get one of the fancy target turret reddots so Kentucky elevation won't be needed. But I don't much trust the adjustment repeatability of those scopes so far! More frustration than help in previous matches.
