It was a beautiful day for shooting. Still a little hot, but we had a nice breeze and it was quite pleasant under the covered firing line out of the sun. We had quite a few shooters, but were missing a couple of our regulars. It was great to see Greg Harrison back after a few bouts with some medical problems that have kept him from shooting.
We didn’t have any 40 X 40’s for score, although Tom Wood came back with 2 40 X 40 re-entries. Tom and Walt actually tied for high score in big bore with 39’s, both missing one ram. Neither one shot any shoot offs, so it is a true tie. Joe Puffert also missed a ram, but unfortunately could not count one of the chickens as his bullet went a hole that is in middle of chicken number 4. We will be getting that fixed soon.
Walt was our half scale leader with 35, having a little turkey trouble. Larry Egan shot the little critters for the first time and ended up with a 30. Not bad for sighting your gun in on the sighters before he started shooting.
In .22 class, the shadows were playing with the turkeys and making them a little tough to see, especially number 4. I had the high score with a 38. Walt was the field pistol leader in UAS with a 22. Greg Harrison shot for the first time in several years and started out slow, but said he will be practicing before the next match. I was the only short course hunter pistol shooter and knocked down 39—missing only the invisible turkey.
Our August matches are Saturday, August 20 and Sunday August 27. Hope to see you there.
