We had a beautiful day for our first match of 2015. Rain held off until we were almost done. Many thanks to everyone who was able to come out on Saturday and help get the range ready, and thanks to those that helped set up and tear down for today’s match. Turnout was a little light from our normal, but with several of the shooters recovering from surgery and other health issues we can’t complain at all. Connor did set a personal best of 31 in .22 rifle, and there were a number of 40’s shot….with shootoffs for the deciding lead.
Jay would like to start shooting Bordello matches, so at the next silhouette match we will try this out. The Bordello match will consist of full sized targets, but at the .22 distances. So. we’ll have a swinging target, one chicken, one hog, one turkey, and one ram hanging at 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards. We will count the hits on each target. Guns that are to be used are “normal” handguns that could be used for “carry”. Only iron sights…shot standing up. No adjustment of the sights are permitted after starting the course of fire. So, bring your “other” handguns down for the next match…you revolvers and autos and let’s see what we can do with them.

One quick note….if you’re not shooting please be polite and converse with your fellow shooters away from the firing line, during the actual firing. It can get a little distracting at times trying to shoot while a conversation is going on right behind you. Thanks!!

Next IHMSA Silhouette match will be held on the 2nd Sunday in May…Mother’s Day.

Hope to see everyone there!

Fond memories of a local bar in Montrose that served turtle on Friday nights. Don't remember the name and it is hopefully still there.

Nice match report AL!
The bordello will be challenging and looking forward to seeing results. Almost made it to your match but weather report stopped the 5 hour trip. Possibly next month. Congratulations on your 3, 40's. Now waiting for you to convert the Wichita into a Long Range Practical hunter! How neat would that be? I have another Tasco 6x if that would help get this project off the ground. With the high amount of intrest your group has in UAS, Practial Hunter possibly could open the door to additional entries.
Take care, Jry

Steve, not sure which one that was....most have closed up with the exception of Smurfs...which is called Kinneck East(for some reason or another). Jerry, don't know about the Practical Hunter....I think we tried that a couple of years ago...lasted one match....the two or three shooters that tried it out quit before they ever got to the turkeys. They thought it was pretty tough. BUT, if you want to get rid of that 6X Tasco, I'm always looking for another one. We'll try the Bordello....I'm trying to keep an open mind on it, and Jay seems to think he can get some more shooters for it, so.....we'll see what happens.

Now that I think about it....we didn't try the Practical Hunter...we just set up the field pistol targets and shot them standing only.....Looked over the PH rules...almost sounds like production guns(TC's with 10inch barrels) with scopes. Damn...getting to be too many divisions for me to keep up with, I guess. :-s

No problem Al, we can provide all the guidance you could possibly tolerate here on the forum!

You are exactly right about the production guns. Drop a scope on and rock in roll...21" max length. The twelve inch Contenders work as well.

Will talk about the scope if your interested.
