We were able to get in our second match of the year, Sunday May the 4th. Husband and wife team Will and Brenda Kirste made the long drive to be with us today. Brenda had not really intended to shoot but after finding out that Will had secreted her gun into the Suburban in case she changed her mind, she did in fact fire a very respectable 36X40. Not bad considering she had not prepared to shoot and it was good enough to best Will by two targets. I somehow overcame “old eyes” and got a 40X40 in Unlimited. This is the first time I’ve been able to do this in over two years. My brother Philip was able to notch yet another 40X40 in UAS with his flop Ruger Charger in spite of the fact that he was walking wounded (allergies). Today I attempted to sight in my PAS 22 Hornet as I went. This was a new cast bullet load which had bench tested very good. The problem was that the sight settings were very far off from my jacketed loads. I did manage to salvage a 20X40 hitting 7X10 rams (finally found the zero). Thanks go out once again to Bob Stevens for staying after to match to help me load all the targets and stands. He can always be counted on to go the extra mile. Will and Brenda pitched in as well. Plus I cannot say thank you enough to my wife Carolyn who set targets all day and stayed to help load up at the end of the day. We could simply not do it without her.
