Good to see you're back at it. (being onery, I mean). Take care of that heart, and get your ass to OKC. At least you didn't end up with urban meyer. (Joe"s favorite person)

Jackie,
Thanks for the info. I know you guys rubbed elbows with these people long before I ever knew IHMSA existed. Will try to contact him. Plus I have a 7mm Champ, bought it for the history. May pick his brain on that one. Unless, maybe, you know something about this caliber that Jim was involved in. Just saying.

Re: what ya doing new?
Hey Cody Bobcat,
Made me pull it out of the safe. It's a 7PPC not improved, by the barrel marks. It is original Wichita, not a rebarrel, not a classic, and a silhouette model. Thanks for the heads up, because I remember these improved models but forget I have one when I go to order parts. End up with dies that don't do the shoulders.
Thanks for all your help.

Re: what ya doing new?
Dad's is a Factory "Silhouette" mod. Barrel is only marked 7mmPPC though it is in fact a 7mmPPC Imp. No idea why they never stamped those barrels with the Imp.. Like the Classic mod.TEFREY wrote:Hey Cody Bobcat,

Safer to take a chamber cast be sure and would help getting the dies done also.

Re: what ya doing new?
Want to work up a hunting load for my Ruger SBH 44mag and try it in Practial Hunter class. Also bought a new 12" T/C 357 mag bbl and want to load ( I know, long chambers) for BB unlimited. The 44mag will be with the Lee 310gr bullet and the 357mag with a NOE 360-180gr sil design.

Hey Cody Bobcat,
The 7mm Champ was developed by Jim Fields out of OKC. It's a 7X34 BR basically. Low recoil, originally for women and children, but now considered a flop position round, if considered at all. Was chambered in less than 10 Wichitas (some say as low as 5) and I got one. Came with brass and dies, my new standard for oddball rounds I purchase. I think I had my beer goggles on while on Gunbroker with that 7PPC. I woke up the next morning with a strange pistol in my bed, and she didn't have dies!

Re: what ya doing new?
I plan to take my new 30 Carbine TC and shoot a 40 in FP using cast bullets no less. Until then, I will settle for my normal 8 or 9. Our club will be celebrating our 35th year this year and silhouettes are just as fun now as the first match I ever shot. Where did all those years go?????
