Left the range

Post by Jimologist »

It is with a heavy heart, I announce the passing of IHMSA great and my close friend, Bill Urbank. Bill was a fanatical silhouette shooter and was easily the most dedicated IHMSA member I have known.
He attended many, many Internationals and won his share of International championships. The one I remember most is the perfect 80x80 small bore revolver he shot on our home range of Tusco with a brand new Freedom Arms revolver presented to him by his brother Mark.
Bill and Mark built the original Tusco range and along with his son Billy and myself went down to Oak Ridge and retrieved the auto reset targets and installed them in a new improved Tusco range. We had a lot of help but Mark and Bill carried the heavy water.

Bill was the biggest promoter of silhouette shooting in the nation. A stranger could not get within 100 yards of a match without Bill pressing a gun in his hand and giving him ammo. Then he would spot your first match too. He loved fixing a broken gun. I cant count the
times he would fix a broken hammer spring or firing pin on a picnic table right behind the line. His biggest loves were his wife Carole Ann who precedes him and his son Billy who survives.
Bill and I drove thousands of miles pursuing the perfect prairie dog field and the perfect silhouette match. Your big booming voice will be sorely missed. R.I.P. my friend.

I am sorry to hear this. He fixed a DW revolver for me at Fort Stockton. A real stand up guy. RIP

My deepest condolences to the Urbank family. We were at Tres Banditos at TUSCO when we got the news. A shoot that Bill dearly loved. Rest in peace my friend.

Condolences to his family. I had a good conversation with Bill sitting on the tailgate of a truck in KY last year. Last time I saw him.
