SOLD - 7mm DragonFly MGM TC Barrel

Post by dwostler »

SOLD

Just a question of interest.

I created a 10" stainless bull barrel for the TC - Contender by MGM - match grade machine.

1-8 twist to be able to shoot the heavier 7mm bullets, originally subsonic, like a 7mm whisper with a rimmed case.

It is basically a 256 WinMag (357 mag parent brass) necked to 7mm.

I have the barrel, but never finished the project. I'm about to send the barrel to MGM and have them rechamber it to 7-30 Waters plus add a muzzlebreak.

I have only the chamber drawing, reamers and gauges, and dummy round use to throat it to roughly 175gr+ 7mm boat- tail bullet, to go with the barrel.

Wondering if anyone was interested in picking it up from me for $250 including shipping, or should I just convert it and put it out to the general hunting public.

I will post pictures in the near future.

Thanks in advance, Dennis Ostler

Melvin,
Thats kinda like a 7JI short for heavy bullets. Might make a nice standing gun!

That was my original idea.

Please excuse me, I got my 2nd shot yesterday and now feel very poor, fever of 103.2
Same thing happened on first shot. I'll have to post pictures maybe later tonight or tomorrow.

FYI, locking lugs fitted by Jim Henry, my friend.

Thanks, Dennis

When you say the project wasn't finished, what exactly does it lack? Reloading dies? Is it drilled and tapped? You've gone to a lot of effort, I would think selling it and buying a 7x30 or 7-TCU in a 14" would be cheaper than rebarrelling.

I had the barrel made, drilled and tapped by MGM, never had the reloading dies made for it, that is all.

Barrel is sold pending funds from buyer, It will take me probably to this weekend to find the reamer and other items that goes with this.

Thanks, Dennis Ostler
