Another Scope Question

Post by benenglish »

I was rooting around in a drawer looking for something else and I found one of these S&W Model 15628 scopes: http://www.gunaccessories.com/SWOptics/PistolScopes.asp

I don't have the foggiest notion where I got it. The copyright date on the label is 2002, so perhaps I've had it for a while. And I know for absolutely sure that I would never pay anywhere near the price shown at that link when other "known quantity" scopes can be had for the same money. If I had to hazard a guess it would be that I got a CDNN catalog, saw this thing for a $50 blowout price, and said "What the heck?"

I was already putting together a new UAS pistol that I intend to use exclusively on the big targets and since I stumbled across this thing I've decided to mount it and see how it works. (Talk about serendipity!)

Anyway, a couple of questions: does anyone have any experience with it and can you give me an idea what to expect? It's marked "Made in Japan"; does anybody know who actually made it?

I'm just curious. Within a few months, I'll be able to answer the first question for myself and will post the results back here, anyway.

They were rumored to have been made by Hakko, and they seem to be a good quality scope. It seems that they did clearance out the whole S&W scope line a few years back.
Hakko was the same company that made the Tasco World Class PLUS scopes, and I wish I had a few more of those!
