Looking for cast boolit loads for the 7US. I am borrowing a BF 7US to work out some loads for a friend. I have the RCBS and Hunter 145gr molds.

Load for 7mmUS
Re: Load for 7mmUS
Peter, there is not much out there in data as far as CB's for this round. I went they way of a lot of reading and trying different loads. IMR 4198 and IMR 4895 have given me the best results this far in the 7US with the bullet you mention.
However reloader #7 is on my list to try.
On a few guns that I switched to CB's I started on the start load of the powder I used for jacketed and played a litlle bit with good results. Accuracy came in a bit under what charge I was usning for jacketed.
My 30-20 load came in at the exact same charge I had used for jacketed.
Your milage may vary.

Re: Load for 7mmUS
Thanks JSH.
I have all but flagged this caliber / gun combination away as I think the exessively long throat in the BF pistol doesnt bode well for accuracy.
I cannot get either boolit to touch the lands or even get close.
A 154gr jacketed bullet only just seated in the neck by 1/16" touches. Using the old marking the cleaning rod system to gauge length shows the 145gr cast boolits will be about 1/3" from the lands. Peter.
