Some more OUTRAGEOUS shooting by IHMSA guys to report. Steve Martins, first at the Region 5 Championships at the Holmen Rod & Gun Club in Holmen, WI went wild. Steve shot a U 80X80, then a USIS 67X80, an S 65X80, and a US 70X80 for a World Record 224X240 Agg. Then Dan Harder at the same match shot an 80X80 in Production class for a World Record. Both Dan and Steve used 747’s with a “Martins” sight package on um. Steve Martins continues to set incredible records shooting 9 40X40’s at one match (no re-entries) at Hibbing, MN match on June 12-14. All I can say is WOW, and CONGRADS. Next Jim Fields may never miss a UAS target, he has a several year string of perfect scores going including several 60’s and 80‘s. Jim has shot 4,800 targets (and counting) that’s 120 forties IN-A-ROW, man-o-man. Jim you are something else. Tom Hull has got me up to speed on some old Field pistol records, Thank You Tom. First Bill Rearick, PA with a Production 39X40 which is a tie, back on 5-3-98, then Larry Hixon, OR with a P 56X60 on 6-22-05, and Hal Simkins, MD with a P 77X80 on 8-07-98. Then PAS 40X40 (tie) by Gerald Graff, WI on 7-15-89, Bill Robinson, PA, PAS 60X60 on 8-30-02, and Bill Robinson again PAS 78X80 8-??-02. For some Field Pistol Agg’s Mr. Bill Rearick again, with a 77X80 on 5-03-98, Bill Zewe, PA with a 119X120 on 9-3-90, and finally Hal Simkins with a 152X160 on 8-07-98. You guys up there in the NE can sure shoot your Field Pistol guns. Congratulations Gentlemen it is a pleasure and honor recognizing your shooting accomplishments.
Some very sad news to pass along. We lost Jim Ishmael the middle of August. He was an amazing silhouette shooter and a great man/friend. Haltom City will not ever be the same. He did so much for our club. He will be missed by many, may he rest in peace.
I am preparing two drag cars for an all out father/son assault on “Pinks All Out” TV program, (go to the SPEED channel). I have prepared an 89 Mustang GT with a 383 stroker small block Chevy, which I will drive, and the nicest 93 Chevy Z28 ANYWHERE with a small block 427 stroker, 9” Ford ladder bar rear with a powerglide, for Kyle to drive. Both cars have NOS systems and full roll cages. The very first race we attend, one of us WILL WIN (providing they choose our time class). I have spent a small fortune preparing our cars with the best of the best and we will take “NO PRISIONEERS”. I will let everyone know what dates we will be competing on. I am having nice IHMSA decals made for our cars to afford IHMSA much FUN/VAST national exposure. Kyle’ Z28 is PRISTENE/STUNNING (show quality and VERY VERY FAST). It is going to be soooooooo much fun. And, I havn’t had this much fun doing anything, preparing our cars in 30 years. We will start serious testing in two to three weeks. Got to teach Kyle the ropes.
