Proposed Practical Hunter Class

Nancy,
There is a discussion going on under "Announcements" concerning the proposed Practical Hunter Class & its trial. As a member of IHMSA & match director I have several concerns.
s Lorene going to track the number of entries in this trial category? Also, she should track the entries in Big Bore, Small Bore & Field Pistol. For this, 2010 should be the base. What we need to see is does this category bring in new shooters or simply shift current members into this new category? What statistical analysis will the Board use to determine if this class should be approved? In other words, how will the Board determine if this class (1) brings in new shooters and/or (2) retains current members?
As a match director, my main concern is that if this category is approved by the Board, John Fouts cannot update his IHMSAmatch software because he has lost the code. Thus, all data will have to be hand entered into a match report. Also, this is not a freebie to IHMSA. Someone is going to have to determine how a membership card will reflect this new category, develop score cards, and determine if it will be added to the Internationals (which will mean the statistician will be entering that data by hand.
Yours,
Steve Ware
