Good luck! I heard that Remington is no longer making it. You can buy forming dies to make it from .308 brass. I bought an xp-100 in 7br from a fellow shooter 4 years ago and immediately found no source for the brass. I had it rebarreled for 7Tcu. Fellow doing the barrel job had a small face bolt, and we just traded bolts.

Some folks are doing that. But if the 6br brass from Lapua is as expensive as the rest of their line is, that could get pricey.

When I bought my xp-100 in 1982, there was NO brass for 7br whatsoever. I made my first 100 pieces from .308 rifle brass and I noticed no difference in large rifle primered loads vs the later available small rifle primered BR brass. But it was a pain in the butt to make.

If you think Lapua is high try finding some Remington 7br brass. last time I found some the guy wanted over $100 for a 100. I just bit the bullet and bought it. Had to have it is what I said to myself. I tried to make some from Lapua 6br brass but could never get it to work. wheelgun7360

There are some things you need to do after forming Lapua 6BR brass to 7BR.

First Lapua brass is made to Norma specs which has a max case length of 1.560" Remington specs has a max case length of 1.520". you will need to trim Lapua brass for most 7BR chambers as they are mainly built to remington specs.

Also, Lapua brass has a tendency to develop a doughnut in the neck near the bottom of the neck when formed to a larger caliber and will need to be neck turned to get rid of it. Also Lapua brass is usually .003-.004" thicker necks than remington brass and may be too tight for some chambers.

This is how I make make my brass:

1. form the brass to 7BR
2. Trim brass to 1.510"
3. neck turn brass to around .009-010" thick.

after this it works fine. Also I have found lapua brass lasts longer before needing to be annealled.

I took your advise and necked up some Lapua 6mm brass. What tool do you use to remove the "doughnut". Reamers such as Wilson are sized for fired brass (.003" over at .2865"). Is there a reamer for sized brass at .284"? Thx.
