Big Bore Half Scale with 22 Hornet

Sometimes, it is fun to try the unconventional ! A couple of years ago, I put together a gun to use in Practial Hunter (Short Course) - TC Contender with a 14" MGM barrel, chambered in 22 Hornet. It is scary accurate, and every Practical Hunter score has been 40x40. I attended a match yesterday at Top Shot Shooting Center in north Louisiana, and decided to shoot it in Half-Scale. Started out with only sight settings to 100 yards, and with my brother Charlie's help, we "guesstimated" a 150 setting. Our "swag" was correct, and got 10x10 turkeys. Another guess for rams, and first shot went about 3 inches over the ram. Went down 6 clicks, and got all of the rest - 39x40 ! What I find even more amazing is the fact that every target fell - I was using a very light load - Hornady 55 Spire Point, with 7 gr. of Accurate 9. Sometimes all of the stars align ! By the way - scope used was a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15X - "flop" position.. It sure was fun ! PS: Forgot to mention - barrel is 1-10" twist !

Great shooting, Philip
Sounds like fun. I have a BF in 22H with a 1:9 twist, with peep, sights. Would be fun to try some 69 grain eras on HS

Great shooting indeed!!! I'm surprised that light load didn't ring a few rams. Those must have been some zombie bullets guaranteed to kill anything they hit.
