To All:
Last month I submitted My letter of resignation as IHMSA News editor to the executive committee. As of now, I have received no response from them. I said I would attempt to keep doing the job till a replacement can be found, BUT cannot assure that the news will be printed in a timely manner.
If anybody is interested in the News editor position, You can contact me or a board member.
Please note that the Headquarters functions I am also doing are NOT a part of the News editor position.

All,
First of all IHMSA is very much alive. As Dan is not a board member he doesn't have all of the story. After we received his letter we found someone who is very interested in taking over the newsletter position. The board has approved a purchase of IHMSA laptop that will be use by that position. As a board we feel that the newsletter is very important to our organization as it is the face of IHMSA that the members see. The newsletter needs to be put out in a consistent manner and it will be in the future. The board is committed to that.

Steve, Can you expand on your comment about a new editor? The last issue was a combined May/June issue so when can we expect additional new issue(s) and who will be the new editor? What other duties that Dan performs/ed will be transitioned and to whom? BIG thanks to Dan for all the hard work he has done to improve the newspaper and for the other support he has given to IHMSA.
I think the membership would appreciate more definitive information about the paper if it can be released at this time. Thanks!

I did not know, But we will have a new Editor Next year. The board will officially release the new editor when he is ready to take over.
A December issue is about 90% completed and after approval will be released to the membership. If all goes well, it may be on the website by this weekend.
And Last, The HQ functions which I am performing will be staying with me till further notice. This is Taking care of the match reports, and getting supplies to the match directors. Membership HQ functions are being performed by Ray Utter, Our Secretary/Treasurer.

Dan, Thanks for the update. I am assuming the December issue of the IHMSA News will include all available match information since the May/June issue was published. Again, thanks for all your hard work moving the IHMSA News to the new format and for making it available online.

It will not have the Match reports except the Big Matches. We are planning on a special issue in january which will have all the Match reports in it. Match reports is what take up most of my time and we are trying to come up with a format both in the Match program and forms to cut down the work needed. at present each state takes me anywhere from 3-10 hours of typing and editing to get in the newsletter. 80% of the clubs still send paper copies for printing.
Part of the reason I could never write an article!
