Re: Little River Gun Club - May 28, 2016 Match Results
Congrats to my amigo J. Melvin Calliham, he was on fire with his Standing game today, with an outstanding '32', with 9 Turkeys; which is an accomplishment in itself. He would have shot for the 3 and 4 gun aggs, but time and range grass cutting the previous day but a damper on wanting to pursue the aggs. A Match Director's life is full of work, but a labor of love; Congrats Amigo !!!

Thanks for putting on a fine match! And to my spotters who were a big help.
Second time shooting Big Bore and the first time shooting Field Pistol and BB back to back. Those BB targets DO look bigger than FP! But also first time I think the breeze was a factor, especially on Rams. Did much better when it died down a bit.

You were no slouch in standing either, with a fine 29. And thanks for all your hard work on the range, and all the "paperwork" involved. We had a good turnout, and very pleased to have Bruce and Stuart Barrett from Alabama.
See, ole 95, we do allow others from Alabama, to shoot with us!

Stuart & Bruce; it's always a pleasure to have you guys come join us from Ala'damn'bama. Congrats on your performance with the 25/221; 40x40 + 4x5. Bruce was not cutting much slack either. My only disappointment was that I did not get to see you shoot Standing; "Alabama Gangster Style".338whisper2 wrote:Thanks,

Would have liked to have seen y'all shoot some more! Was looking downrange most all day, either at my sights or spotting for a couple of the other guys.i26963 wrote:Always glad to have you, jmoore!jmoore wrote:Thanks for putting on a fine match! And to my spotters who were a big help.

Just to confirm, the BB targets are metric distances?
Trying to cipher rough velocities for those pokey .44s.
The high rise mount US gun needs 10 MOA from 150 to 200 according to the scope clicks.
And the revolver uses about 28 MOA from Chickens to Rams, although I suspect POI on Rams is rather high still. Not that the MOA change here is a perfect evaluation of absolute drop as I use a 6 o'clock hold. But glancing at the charts it seems those bullets could be going faster than anticipated. Maybe 1100 fps muzzle, given a Speer supplied BC of .151.

Too late to attach photos to the results, but finally got some uploaded to Pbucket.
Our usual photographer, the "other" Robert:

Things got pretty busy much of the day:

But later on folk thinned out a bit:

Nice to have your own brass organizer!

Returning from a visit to the fallen Chickens:

Some more:

Dig the fancy laser pointer spotter board. Rarely does the spotter have to point "outside the lines" whilst RW and MC are shooting....

Nine BB pigs down on first match (only second BB match ever for me!) using an old S&W 29-3 firing a swaged lead bulleted Field Pistol load. No complaints here!
