I heard on the radio there is a new National marksmanship competition out there. It could be some excellent exposure for IHMSA but we need the best we can get to apply.
It is the American Marksman competition. They have rules that guarantee that the competition is limited to amateur only. The IHMSA Internationals . World Championships are specifically mentioned. To be an amateur the competitor can not have ever finished in the top 10% at the World Championships.

I would personally put up an IHMSA competitor against anyone in the world in a head to head marksmanship competition.

So someone please apply and win and be sure to tell them that you learned your skills in IHMSA competition.
Please read all the rules and conditions. There is still time to sign up and compete.

Here is the link.

To me that reads, if you placed at the INT's you cannot try out.

******** from the website ******

•No one that has ever placed in the top 10% of any major competitive shooting event on this list in any division or category may participate. Please note that for USPSA, this rule extends to the top 15%.

That is what I get from it. If you placed in the top 10 percent in any category, you can't play with them.

But I know we have excellent shooters all over the country that have never been to the World Championships. And I would put IHMSA shooters up against anyone, anywhere, any time. What we do with a pistol is totally amazing. 99% of shooters around the world cannot even fathom what we do on a regular basis.

Go IHMSA.

Our range was invited to be a local qualifying facility. We passed on it, they wanted the facility to be staffed, presumed to run the timer and forward the entry fees.

I agree, I think IHMSA has excellent marksman, but I'm not sure that this is about marksmanship. Their rules eliminate not only the top 10% of any national event, but also the top 10% of the organization classification system. Essentially, none of our International class shooters are eligible, perhaps not even AAA shooters. It looks geared toward juniors, women, and military/law enforcement. Not sure why the latter is eligible....many of them get their ammo free.

The target bulls eye is 2.66", at 20 feet for pistol and only 30 feet for rifle.

I clinked the links and found an updated standings, it was ranked in time. There is no mention in the rules of it being a timed event, or how many shots are scored on the target.

I wish there was something out there that allowed entries with a balanced scoring of handgun accuracy, handgun speed, rifle accuracy, and shotgun (like trapshooting).
