Rifle in 7mm IHMSA

I have found a nice low priced Savage 99 with an after market barrel chambered in 7mm IHMSA. Until today I did not know this cartridge existed.
It was named after your shooting sport so here I am looking for help.
The only reloading data I can find is for the X-100 handgun so I have a feel for what type of performance to expect from a handgun barrel.
What ballistic performance can I expect from this cartridge in a rifle?
I am looking for a reason to buy this rifle. Would this cartridge handle say whitetail and black bear with a rifle length barrel?

The 7mm IHMSA was never really intended for use in a Rifle. it was designed to give us optimum power in a handgun (actually it is a little overkill for what we need now)

But expect velocities to be about 150 Ft/s slower compared to a 7mm-08 in the rifle.

It should have plenty of power for a whitetail. But nothing is guaranteed on a Bear. a bear's bone structure is large But with a well placed shot, should work fine.

If the rifle is in good shape, go for it. This would be more than adequate for your purposes. Brass is easy to make out of 300 Savage or any of the 06 based cartridges. When using 300 Savage no trimming is required. Very easy to find accurate loads. Any of the IHMSA loads would work great in a rifle. Might even be able to use some slower powders to get extra velocity out of a rifle. Sounds like a great gun to experiment with.
