We had threatening rain and and a fine mist during set up for our June match.
This kept temperatures in check and light conditions were excellent for optics but not iron sights.
Attending for the first time Mike Davis from Ga. and Jay Bruce from IL. Mike is a seasoned IHMSA member and
made himself right at home. We enjoyed meeting Mike and hope to see you again at July's match. Thanks for your
help during the match and spotting for those that needed that valuable person calling hits. Jay attended his first
ever silhouette match. Jay shot 3 entries in Bordello and we convinced him to try Field Pistol Production Any Sight.
Jay is new to steel shooting but is a seasoned marksman. He did quite well for his first time and is planning to
return with a friend next month. Thank you to both Mike and Jay for their attendance and safe firearm handling.
We look forward to seeing both again.
Darell Holcombe shot a great score of 30 in Field Pistol Production. This score gives him
one leg in International class. As stated in overcast conditions with peep sights!
Pete Wories also advanced to AA in PAS. Pete is now reloading and realizing the rewards of rolling your own. This
is a difficult time to learn and progress with the limited availability of components. It is totally worth the effort and the only way to keep cost in check.
We had a great Bordello club match this month. John Howard took top honors using iron sights. John tied with
Dennis Sanderson. We had to go back to turkey count to determine the winner. Both shot 13 and knocked down the
same amount of rams. Our highest posted score to date is by John Blue from Oklahoma with a 17 shooting a Ruger SS 22 WMR.
We also want to say thank you to all that helped with match setup/takedown and resetting targets. During the
summer months with high humidity putting on a successful match isn't possible without everyone's help. This is our
match and range time. I think the effort put forth by each person is what makes for a enjoyable day here at Jackson.
I can not forget Don Pitt for racing to the range bright and early with his air tank due to low tires on the club 4-wheeler.
We truly appreciate all! Thanks to my wife Judy for the great awards and assisting with numerous task. She too
continues to improve scores as long as I don't change her guns or loads!
Thanks to Lynn and sons for the range preparations. We have a beautiful range when all the targets are set up and in
place.
I would like to encourage those that have not tried this enjoyable sport to come out and give it a try. Your first
entry is free and there are many options for shooting most any type of handgun and 22 rifle.
