I have been using an RCBS 165g sil for some time and have an decent results but was wondering what others are using and type of lube.As far as lube goes I have been using Lyman NRA and Lyman SuperMoly.Been reading about good results from people using Felix World Famous Lube.I would be using this for sil and rifle benchrest with cast.My silhoutte gun is a T/C Condender with 14" 30-30 bbl.I also have a Lyman mold in the popular 311041

I use the same bullet in my 30-30 TC, along with FWFL for lube. One of the guys I shoot with a bit bought a G2 along with a new 30-30 barrel. He is trying to shoot the same bullet, the barrel is so short throated that the bullet has to be seated way deeper than I would like. Gas check is all but hanging in the case below the neck. It may or may not shoot. He is tighter than the bark on a tree and is bound and determined to force it to shoot. I have tried to help him, but he is not much on load work. Only press he has is a 550 dillon and IMHO that is not a rig to try and find what a gun likes as far as powder, sizing and seating depth. I will stick with my single stage for that thank you.
I have a dozen or so 30 caliber molds but no 311041. I have shot a few a gent gave me but it did nothing that a couple of others I have did as well if not better.
I have came to the conclusion that I am done with chasing molds around trying to find one that will work. One of the custom makers can make what I want and not what they think I need. I used to say dang $125-250 for a mold? After buying a couple or three trying to find one that fits with no luckthey look pretty cheap.

I understand that LBT makes outstanding mold to fit most bbl applications. I also belong to the Cast Bullet Assoc. and they have high priases for his molds. Was thinking of looking into one for my SBH Ruger 44mag. The throats on the cylinders measure .431--.432. Have not measured forcing cone or bore but I understand that to reduce leading concerns the cast bullet should fit the throats

I'm going to try a Lee 155gr in my 30-30 this year. I would think it might work as I have used 150 gr jacketed's before and not lost a target becuase of too light of bullet.Trying Sr4759 powder with it.I don't recall the amount of powder at this time.Don't feel like running to the basement right now. i-)

It would be difficult to pin down just one .30 mold as a favorite. I find you have to use what the barrel likes. It dictates; you don't. I do use the RCBS 165 sil a lot because the nose section fits on the rifling. I also like the SAECO 311 because it casts big enough and the nose section is tapered. It also runs about 165gr. The 311041 has its place but usually in 30-30 rifles although if it fits your barrel's throat I'd say use it.
JSH, if your pal wants to try different powders, loads and such he should remove the Dillon powder measure. Now he can make all the adjustments he likes. Richard

LBT has a neat "chamber slugging" method that is e eventually used to design a mould to fit your gun. This is used with bottle neck rounds. In the CB world, fit of the bullet to the chamber is darned near everything! I have several of his 4-cavity moulds and they work great!

Lube? Try Voodoo lube.....www.voodoo-lube.com. It is very similar to the Tom Gray #24 that a lot of the CBA bench rest shooters were using until Tom stooped selling his. That, combined with Ed's Red bore cleaning solution is a good combination.

LBT makes good moulds. I have 4 of his 4-cavity moulds. For a bolt action single shot bottle neck case pistol he has a kit you use to make a "slug cast" of your chamber then he measures and then makes a mould to fit it. In CB shooting, bullet fit to chamber is "everything".

For lube Tom Gray's #24 was real popular with benchrest CBA shooters. However, he no longer makes it. Voodoo lube is almost identical and works well. www.voodoo-lube.com/

Hi Robert,
I too have been using the RCBS 165gr in the 30cal 32 H&R Mag and 30 Herret.
I have recently bought the NOE 155gr boolit and use it in both of the mentioned calibres and also in my newly re-barrelled XP 30BR. Shows promise in all calibres and seems to be very accurate in the small amount of shooting done to date in the XP. Peter
