Well our day started out with snow on the ground, but it did clear up for our match. The wind never stopped though. Needless to say we had a very low turnout, but some pretty good scores for the first match of the year. There were no 40 X 40’s, but Tom Wood managed a 39 in Big Bore and Greg Rhineheimer got a 39 in .22, each missing a ram. Bob Baur shot freestyle for the first time and started out with a 25 in Big Bore and 33 in .22. Bob must have been practicing over the winter! Bob also brought a friend, but I did not catch his name as I came late. But welcome to whoever you are and we hope to see you back soon. Kevin Kling used his first match to work out the winter clinks and then shot a re-entry and bettered his score by 3.
Walt was our only half scale shooter and in his own words “I made all the new shooter mistakes.” After shooting sighters, he forgot to go back to chicken settings and after shooting pigs went the wrong way on his adjustment. He still ended up with a fine 30, considering the weather conditions. Joe Puffert had planned on shooting UAS, but after getting up on the cement bench, he decided it was a little too cold for that and ended up trying his new TC .223 in Unlimited Standing.
Greg Rhineheimer was our only field pistol shooter so we declare him the Field Pistol Match winner.
We do not have a Sunday match in April due to Easter. Our next match is Saturday, April 16.
