I shot in my first bb match today @ JPRPC in Paducah. I shot UAS. First of all, thanks again to everyone that helped me through it and made my son and I feel welcome. Several people gave me pointers and loaned me some things to make everything go smooth. My 9yo shot his 22 rifle off sandbags at 1/2 scale targets and got about 20 out of 40. He's hooked now too. I managed to knock down 6 of the chickens and was a little worried I wouldn't get too many more but on to the pigs I went. I hit 4 of the first 5 and was feeling pretty good. My first shot at the second bank was followed by a reminder that I had to wait for the range officer to say "fire". SORRY Jerry! Realizing what I did, all I could think of was that mistake. I missed the next 3 and ended up with 5 of 10 pigs. Going into the turkeys I was 11 of 20. After lots of reassurance that " it happens to everyone", I managed to take out 7 of ten turkeys, then 8/10 on the rams. Total first score of 26. I didn't expect to do that well my first time but I'm already convinced that I can pull off 35 or better next time out. :)

tking, welcome to the sport! I sure hope you stick around. Great first score BTW. My first was a 2 with a High Standard Double Nine shot standing. That was 29 years ago.

tking308,

Jackson Purchase Rifle and Pistol Club welcomes you and your son tking308 Jr. Once again you displayed impressive gun handling skills and were very safe. That makes a Match Directors job much easier, thank you. Also thanks to John B for spotting and coaching tking308's first match. While preparing the match report I found your score to be 28 apposed to 26 as you stated. Regardless that is quite an impressive first match score!
As hoped you brought the 22 rifle for Jr and he did excellent shooting Bordello/Rifle prone. He seemed to enjoy shooting and is welcome anytime.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask and looking forward to seeing both next month.

Jerry, thanks! I thought it was a 28 but couldn't remember exactly and didn't want to overstate my score.

tking308 & son,

Welcome to the IHMSA Shooting Gallery; you won't find a nicer bunch of folks anywhere. Great starting scores, now the rest of your IHMSA career will be learning new excuses for missing targets; but don't worry, we have books of them and can loan you plenty of unique ones.

Welcome again and I hope to shoot with you some day soon.

If we can get him to the ECC next April he can shoot with the world famous provider of hummmm babies :)) . As well as with you and Melvin and the rest of the reprobates that frequent such establishments.
