Dan, Have you considered using OCR software that can scan printed pages and convert to text? Might still have to do some clean up of the converted text but might save a lot of time typing reports from scratch. Doesn't sound like an easy project no matter what method is used.

I already use OCR software. BUT most of the Match results I receive are Handwritten. I still end up entering them manually.
this is why we are trying to get the match software updated. If we can do it, it will make it easier for match directors to make up their match reports.

Hard to fathom you still get handwritten reports in this day and age, no wonder it takes so long!!

This could perhaps be because the majority of IHMSA members are senior citizens and still do things old school.
I always submit my match reports in digital form, believing that I should do anything I can do to help our volunteer editor.

Maybe, but I am a very senior citizen and like you my match reports are submitted digitally to make things as easy as possible for Dan.

Dan, Great job on the December issue but I do have one question. The majority of the paper was the results from the Ints and the East Coast Championship. What happened to the local match reports from July to October or November? I did see in your editor comments how you receive many reports that are not complete and/or difficult to digitize but I'm guessing you must have received some local match results that were printable. Please don't take this as a gripe since I think you have done a tremendous job modernizing our newspaper. Just curious. Thanks again for all the work you have done for IHMSA.

They will be in the issue next month. That is what takes most of my time doing the regular match reports and to get this one out it was advisable to just get a special issue out in January.
