Range tote kits available
Re: Range tote kits available
I have the makings for 4 more in oak. I do not have any more material for padding so I am reducing the price to account for that. The price is $70 for a glued up box and will have all the necessary holes drilled, and fastening hardware supplied. You will need to apply the final sanding and finish of your choice. This price does not include shipping (ups). Shipping has been running about $25 for ground. I need to know which side you wish to have the gun on (right hand or left hand). Due to my work schedule I will not have them ready to ship until around the 22nd.

Re: Range tote kits available
Any kits available? I am new to IHMSA and so is my brother. We both would love to have a range box.

At this time I do not have any available.
Re: Range tote kits available
It's been another month. Any kits available? I have a box for local matches, but it is a pain to pack for long trips. I am hoping to set up a box from a kit like yours that I can tear down for putting in my suitcase for travel on the plane. Please let me know if/when you will have any available.
Thanks,
Steve
Thanks,
Steve

Shaggy, I can't speak for T1Kilr but I don't think this box is meant to be taken apart once it has been assembled. It appears to be very well made and unless T1 has made it with a removable handle, it will not be very compact. That would be a neat feature. A Gentleman here in OH made range boxes like that years ago but unfortunately he is no longer with us. His were very well made too and almost the same design.

Re: Range tote kits available
These were designed based on the one I got YEARS ago in ohio. The original ones were made of plywood and glued/screwed together. Since I do a fair amount of woodworking, I made up some patterns and set myself up to make a quantity to sell. I figured if I could offset my shooting costs, it would be worth my time. What I have found is that many people have the IKEA price mentality... "I can get something similar to that for cheaper from someone else" Well... buy it from them.
In rough size, there is about 10bdft of wood in each box. Depending on the type of wood used, the cost per bdft varies greatly. The oak ones that I have posted pictures of I have about $40 in materials. Add some allowance for time and machining and ta-da... it doesn't take long and the price needs to climb to reach a break even point. I can make a run of them if I have enough guaranteed sold to justify my efforts in doing so. Unfinished prices would start at about $100.
Shipping costs for the box (with the uprights and handle being broken down for a smaller package)run about $25-$28. I have not had one person tell me that they have had shipping damage. If you ship with the uprights installed, UPS will run you in the $40 range and the box will have a higher risk of damage.
