My oldest grandson was sworn into the Army on Monday so I'm hoping this new generation of veterans will not have to pay the price that current and past veterans have paid. Proud to be an American and to have served my country.

I was honored today to take part in a Veteran's Day celebration at my granddaughter's school. It is very humbling. I am sad that so many of our veterans from the greatest generation are no longer with us. I am also very proud to have a grandson that is currently serving our country in the Army. When the veterans were asked to stand and be recognized I had a picture of my grandson with me so he could stand there by my side. I salute all the veterans and especially the IHMSA veterans on this very special day. Let us hope that all future veterans can serve their country without ever having to fire a shot in anger.
