One of our shooters purchased an Unlimited single shot bolt pistol chambered in 7 IHMSA. It is unusual in that the action is marked as a CPS brand. I cannot find any reference to this brand of pistol. Does anyone have any background on this handgun? The owner would like to know.

Here is the story on the CPS pistol. I quote. "I had the action made by a manufacturer that went by the name of CPS which stands for Central Products for Shooters. He made actions for bench rest shooters in central New Jersey, hence the name. For some reason I had a problem with the bolt on the factory XP banging my hand, so I had him build it with the left side bolt. He had to shorten the action because the normal bench rest action would have been too long. The barrel was made by Hart of benchrest fame. The stock is from Brown Precision in California and is made from kevlar. The paint work is also by Brown.The trigger is a Ralph Bond job. The brake is by Mike Dewey. I don't remember if I included sights, but if I did they should be Bomar/Bond setup. That's all I had on my unlimited guns. CPS chambered it with a brand new reamer in 7 IHMSA and put it all together A few years later CPS, being a small operation, ran into financial problems and sold his equipment to some outfit in Conneticut. They tried to make the actions, but didn't work out."
