ASCENSION SILHOUETTE
GONZALES, LA.

Our 2018 season came to a close with our Louisiana Championship match, October 6th & 7th.
This match included Smallbore, Fifth Scale, Practical Hunter Short Course, Practical Hunter 22LR, and Field Pistol. While our gathering was small, the competition was keen. Only 22 total entries were fired but a good time was had by all. Allen Gaskin came down from Mississippi to shoot with us and several others from around our state were here as well. The highlight of the match was the performance of my brother Philip. He fired four entries and scored four 40X40s, including one in Fifth Scale. Ellis Sisk continues to impress, posting yet another perfect score using a 7 ½” barrel, Freedom Arms revolver in Practical Hunter 22LR. He uses a 4X scope, shoots forward prone, and uses “Kentucky elevation”. His score placed him in a shoot-off with Philip for PH22LR Champion. Ellis managed to hit a couple of Fifth Scale chickens at 100 yards but fell short of Philip’s shoot-off tally, but it was still an excellent performance by Ellis. Kayla Bonner fired a 40X40 in UAS and advanced to a shoot-off with Philip. Although Philip came out the winner, Kayla made him work for it. It took 20 shots to decide the winner. Eric Harper fired the only Field Pistol scores. We also had a few NRA Cowboy Rifle shooters and their scores are listed below. We’ll see Y’all next year.
