Shortening TC Barrel for FP

Hi all, I am new to this forum....
At my club we shoot Field Pistol Silhouette once a month, I've read the rules and I want to get a TC Contender in 22 hornet with a 10 inch Barrel to shoot the Standing Production category but the TC Contenders available in Australia come with 12" & 14 " barrels.

My question is can I buy a 12" or 14" barrel TC Contender and have a gunsmith cut it down to 10" and still be Production legal for Field Pistol competition?

Thanks in advance

IMO the answer is no. The barrel would not be as produced. You would have changed its fit form and function. IMO if you sent it to T.C. and had them shorten it I would say you could. And I would keep a copy of the original work order and payment from T. C. with me at all times. I know a particular production barrel can be hard to find especially in Australia.

I agree with 35isit. If you take a factory barrel and alter it, it becomes an "Unlimited" barrel. The rules do allow for some alterations to production guns if no source is available for replacement parts on a discontinued model. But you can still buy factory produced, production legal barrels.....just not from TC anymore.

Here is one source for TC Factory barrels.

http://www.edstc.com/

You can also find them on Gunbroker.com

And these people can build you a barrel.
