This weekend at the Ga. State match I over heard a conversation about sight picture using scopes.
Basically about dead center vs. 6 o'clock (leg body -belly line). Both had good points. I ty to limit my scope use
So I had no dog in this hunt . But did find it interesting
Just wondering what/ which you do/ use. Are Maybe you got a top secret sure fired way

I'm with Steve, center all the way.

Richard, I started using the center hold when I first shot my 260 Striker. On certain days and certain light conditions, I found the reticles on my Leupold scope would blend in to the black targets, especially the turkeys, and I would wander all around on the target. With my wimp load, I found I could hold B/L on the chicken, then put the center in the notch behind the front leg of a pig and still be center hold on the turkey. I would then add 8 clicks up and move back to B/L on the turkey. Then I would take the 8 clicks back out and just put the horizontal reticle on the top of the rams back and would hit center since I was using a heavier bullet for rams. The B/L hold works great for me and my wimp loads but I have to admit a center hold on all animals allows you to use the same gun/load for big bore then 1/2 size without having to use different settings. Since I usually don't have a spotter, I found my confidence level was higher using the B/L hold on the two birds. I just tried something different and works for me.

Center, that way I use the same sittings for 1/2 scale or 1/5 scale.

Point of aim - point of impact with all of my scope guns !

With both my Bigbore and Smallbore scoped guns I have the scopes set for "point of aim = point of impact". That way I can shoot full scale and half scale without altering the settings. This also keeps me on target if I'm fortunate enough to be in a shootoff. I have never had any issue with losing the crosshair on a black target. I have heard several people say that they do experience this issue. Perhaps those shooters are too busy trying to see just the crosshair . I try to see the crosshair, the full target, and their relationship to each other. I can see them just fine, even with 65 year old eyes. If the vertical crosshair is centered left to right on the target and the horizontal crosshair is centered top to bottom on the target, then it's centered.

I'm the odd guy out. I hold belly line. I have tried to hold center and just can't. Probably is just me. But even with a scope I'm still blind.

I dial in for a perfect center hold on the rams, then hold body leg on C, bellyline on P and body/leg on turkey. I never have to adjust the scope (don't have target knobs) and I'm already ready for shoot-offs. I do fine tune the scope during sighters and rams.
Maybe I've just been lucky but my trajectories have always allowed this method to work.

I guess this one of those qustion were there is no wrong answer it more what works for you
And I can see merit in all the answers funny the guy that won the Ga. State SB UAS with a 60x60 and hit all 10 of the shoot off targets never changed setting just changed point of aim on all. I've tried most all ways stated with mixed results
I think my biggest problem I dislike scopes.
