Our second match for the 2015 season exceeded my expectations. We had just completed replacing our firing line’s temporary tarp roof with a permanent steel roof. Thanks to Will and Brenda Kirste for helping complete this upgrade. The first day we had on hand our usual local shooters, Will and Brenda plus Van Hutches. Van debuted a new Ruger Charger in UAS. Van has never used optics in his long IHMSA career, but like many of us, the advancing years tend to convince us to gravitate to scopes…..at least occasionally. I spotted some for him as he worked his way through the course and he managed a 37X40, not bad for a first effort with a new gun. Will and Brenda fired entries in UAS this first day and I managed to get in a couple of entries myself. Everyone helped with target setting duties which was much appreciated. On day two the clouds parted and provided us with a beautiful day. David Heintz and daughter Kayla made the long drive from St. Martinville and Chuck Potts joined us from DeRidder. Chuck shot very well today giving our new range it’s first iron sight 40X40 in Unlimited Int. He coupled that with a Production Standing 21X40 and an Unlimited Standing 24X40. David shot a very respectable 39X40 in UAS with his Ruger Charger and his daughter Kayla nearly equaled that with a score of 38X40 with the same gun. David’s effort on the fifth scale targets yielded a 35X40. This day as yesterday, everyone helped with target setting and eased my burden. Thanks to all for your help.
