7 TCU Loads

Sorry for another post, but I would like to know if someone has a good starting point for a 10" 7TCU. I'm trying to figure out some good loads that hopefully will work through all 4 sets of targets. I know the rams will probably be tough with this one, but trying to see if I can get a single load that will work and since I've never shot this out of the TC I thought I'd ask for some help.

From what I can find, the Nosler reloading manual is quite a bit stouter in it's loads than the Hodgdon information that I've found online. I am also not too sure about using compressed loads either as I've always stayed away from that in my reloads.

Anyways, thanks for any replies.

Depends on the bullet weight you are using. I shoot a couple of different 7TCU's. In the 10" TC try 24-25gr H4895 behind a 150gr jacketed bullet. If you want a real puppy dog load ( I shoot this one in my 14" for US) 8.0gr Unique, RCBS 145sil cast bullet, WSR primer. Only chronos about 1450 for a 14" tube and a little less from a 10" but they are reliable on properly set rams. Have gone up to 9.0gr if you need a little more umph.

Another good, light load is 15 grains of SR-4759 and a 140 grain bullet.

My present load is 25.0 gr of H4895 with 150 gr Sierra match bullets and Fed 205 primers.

Thanks for all your replies. I will use them as something to work up to in my gun. It's been so long since I have reloaded, it's going to be like learning this stuff all over again.

I used to use imr 4895 with a 130 bullet but, noticed unburnt powder ans switched to imr 4198. I am using 23.5 grains of imr-4198 with a sierra 130 grain bthp match bullet. this is in my 10" 7tcu I shoot for production. It chronies about 2000fps and I haven't hit a ram yet that hasn't fallen to this load!

Hello, I use AA-2520 - (139 bullet- 26.6 grains and 7 1/2 primer) ( 150 & 154 bullets gets 25.5 Grains and 7 1/2 Primers)
This has worked well for me. :D

Well I am trying some AA 2460 on some 130s right now. Then I'll work on some 150s.

Probably not going to matter anyway, I'll be lucky to get a 10 overall my first time out since I've not shot in such a long time and I'm kind of limited on my shooting range for distance. :)

On my 21st birthday I bought 2 handguns. A stainless full lug Dan Wesson 357 & a Tender in 7mmTCU.
I never used either pistol on steel but I did use it on all manner of critters. I remember being especially fond of that caliber. Boy I wish I still had them both!

Reading this thread is reawakening that desire to have a TCU, I think I may just have to buy one!
