Question,

Is an adjustable lower palm rest legal for Production?
For example, the S&W 41 with its adjustable lower grip. The IZH 46 air pistol also is shipped with this lower support.

thanks, Jry

First, the IZH is an Unlimited pistol. Thus, there is no issue with that pistol. Once upon a time there was language concerning Small Bore UIT Freestyle pistols allowing adjustable grips as long as they were not adjusted during the match. I see no reference to that in the current rules. Maybe someone else with better eyes than I will.

Yes you are correct about the IZH pistol being Unlimited. Poor example to use I agree. It was the only other gun I could think of which was sold in that configuration.
I just want to make myself clear on the question. I have done a bit of terminology research and the item in question is the palm shelf. The lower attachment which is also adjustable.
In the rule book I read in Section VI A Production 11. Adjustable grips are allowed on Prod. handguns; however no adjustment of such grips is allowed after the competitor has begun a course of fire.
As I see it, by lack of definition this lower palm shelf is legal.

One of our members in Ky has purchased a model 41 Smith and has asked this question. As match director I would like to provide an accurate answer. Is there something elsewhere in the rules that would prevent using the shelf portion of the grip?

thanks, Jry

Not to my knowledge. It is only addressed there.

Same answer. OK but no adjustment once you start the match.
