I've shot next to you at a couple of matches... you may not hear yourself fart, but I sure do!

ole95 - I also that the BTE type aids. I have tried the Radians and Caldwell electronic muffs. I get some squeal (feedback) from my aids when I first put any muff on. The two electronic muffs work about the same but the Caldwell were much cheaper. Both attenuate the loud sounds but I really would like an electronic muff that totally clips the loud noises. I would rather have no loud sounds and miss one second of hearing than hearing the loud(er) attenuated sound. Both are good muffs and do as advertised. Let me know how your new muffs work for you when you finally get to try them out.

Ok "hear"s were I'm @ on this
Looking locally (wallyworld and academy) the only thing interesting was a pair of Howard Leight Impact sport ($60) At academy My old muffs are made by Leight and I like them so I went on-line checking reviews and all were great
a few people (as always) said there were as good or better than the high dollar super duper brand.
any way during the search I saw I could get a pair for $45 free shipping from Amazon. well got them and 2day
was the first range test :x
when I turned them on it was like when I put my hearing aides in I could hear bird chirping bee buzzing and all the sounds of nature. stepped to the line and firing and No problem there were two guys at the other end and I could hear every word they said but gun blast was not a problem. just to check I put on my old muffs could not tell any difference in the gun blast but could not hear them talk. right now I'm giving them a big Thumbs up :ymparty:
Saturday I hope to shoot a NRA match that will be the big test.

I have a cheap, on mike pair. They work ok for the range. Would like to get a two mike pair for hunting. Might be something for this fall.

well I had the big test for the muffs Sat. and they worked great, I could hear all range commands and the guns blast was fine. The one think I have to get used to is hearing the sound of loading/cocking my gun didn't know it made noise before =))
and other people talking on the line didn't know anybody talked during a match either :-@
so for I give the Howard Leight Impact sport electronic muffs a thumbs up.
I will update end of June to see if I'm still :)
