Respectfully requesting a Rule change
Hi Nancy, I would like to see a rule change or classification change for the field pistol event. I would like to see a change in the position that is used to shoot the course, from standing only to where you could shoot in the position you are comfortable with not just standing. The other events are a standing only class, but then there is an any position class, why not field pistol. I think it would help promote that class as well. There has been others who have chimed in about the same thing. In a hunting situation, one would find that creed-more would be very use full for a steady shot. Please advise and bring this in front of the board, thanks.

This sounds like a good idea, how many people don't shoot standing big boar because it's to hard maybe if they change field pistol they might have more entries.

Don't we already have that with the new Practical Hunter category?

I really don't know if the practical hunter course has that or not. I would like to see the field pistol course shot with it also if practical hunter has it.

Re: Respectfully requesting a Rule change
What you are asking for is already a classification and class. It's called practical hunter short course.
The rules are printed in the IHMSA news but a synopsis is;
Shot on the field pistol targets in any safe position, kneeling, sitting, prone or standing with virtually any handgun up to 21" overall. Ported barrels allowed, straight wall cartridges and of course no target damage.
a bipod or rest is allowed for unclassified shooters or A and AA class shooters.
