Heavy cast loads for 30 Carbine

Shot a few rounds of RCBS 165 cast out of a friends 30-20 US gun and was wondering if I could work up some RCBS 165 loads for my 30 Carbine TC barrel. I'm pretty sure my barrel has the 1 in 10" twist. I Googled around to find some heavy cast load info for the 30 Carbine but not much out there and most poo-pooed the idea since they were talking about shooting in the carbines and not in a single shot TC. Thinking H4227 powder would probably be one candidate for powder. I also have the RCBS mould for the 7.62X39 but didn't know if that would be heavy enough to take BB rams. Any suggestions? Lynn

I've been using 10.8 grns H-108 same as AA#9. 1350 fps. from 10" TC. Same bullet.

Mugs, I have over 16 pounds of AA 9-C so I will have to give your load a try. This is the earlier "data" powder but I don't think it is any different than the new #9 powder. Will start a litter lower and work up to your load just to be safe. I was hoping you would offer a suggestion since I saw lots of your posts even on the old aimoo IHMSA site. Thanks for the info. THINKING OF GETTING MY 30 CARB BARREL GOING AGAIN TOO! HAS ANYONE EVER TRIED THE 200GR RCBS GAS CHECKED BULLET. JUST CURIOUS!

Okie, I havent shot that bullet. A friend uses the RCBS 165 Sil with good success. He is using 4198 but also usable are 4227, 1680, and Re-7 with appropriate charges. You give up a lot of trajectory with 180 and 200gr bullets.
I've been campaigning both the 30 Reece and 300W; the Reece gets RCBS 165 and 4198. The 300W gets the SAECO 311 and 4198. However I believe I'll go all RCBS 165 next year. RP
