IHMSA Loading Manual Data

Post by sgtrock965 »

Back in June 1982, G. Riley, J. Shaver, and B. Stringfellow (all early IHMSA legends) published a reloading manual titled, "Reloading Guide for Handgun Accuracy". All the data was gathered by Elgin Gates from shooters who fired a perfect score.

Yes, the load data is dated, but a perfect score is still a perfect score. Calibers are limited, but I can help with the following calibers:

If you have any of the following calibers, I can tell you what the book recommends:

(Production) 7mm T/CU, .30 Herrett, .30-30 WCF, .357 Magnum, .357 Super Mag, .357 Herrett, .41 Magnum, .44 Magnum.

(Revolver) .357 Magnum, .41 Magnum, .44 Magnum.

(Unlimited) 6.5mm IHMSA, 6.5mm/.223, 7mm IHMSA, 7mm/.223 Unlimited, 7mm T/CU, 7mm Benchrest, 7mm x 47, 7mm x .308, 7 x 57 Mauser, .30 IHMSA, .30 Herrett, .30 Merrill, .30-30 WCF, .300 Savage, .308 x 1.5", .308 WCF

Dear Sir,
I try to send you an email and it keeps bouncing back a request, I fill it out then it tells me it cannot deliver it.

Excellent book. Still use mine a lot. For the cast bullet shooters out there another great book is "Cast Bullets and Silhouettes, (Lead Bullets & Steel Rams)" by Carlton Shy, Jr. Printed in April 1989 this book has lots of tips for bullet casters and some great load data. Not as extensive as the IHMSA load manual but very helpful to the CB shooters. Another excellent book for CB shooters is "Jacketed Performance With Cast Bullets" by Veral Smith at LBT. Don't know if that book is still available but would be worth locating a copy if you cast and use CBs. Veral Smith has probably forgotten more info about CBs than most of us will learn in a lifetime. His LBT moulds produce very accurate bullets necessary for our game.
