Neckturning

Post by OkieShooter »

A topic I don't see very much information on! After being given a setup to turn cases, I've decided to turn the necks on some of the calibers I shoot. Who, if any of you can talk to me about this? For now,I'm thinking about doing my 7 TCU cases. What are spec's for diferent brand cases? Can they be found anywhere?

I think you will find that the necks on the 7TCU are already very thin, unless they are military brass.
Neck turning is usually done on tight neck chambers where the reamer cuts an undersize neck. Then you can neck turn the brass to be a close fit. Most SAAMI chambers won’t need turning unless as I mentioned, you are using military surplus brass, which are generally thicker.
FWIW, I have never seen a 7 TCU WITH A TIGHT NECK.
