.300 Whisper Bullets and Powder

Post by 35isit »

I have a chance to get a .300 Whisper barrel. What powder, primer and bullet do you standing shooters like? Especially those that are using peep on peep sights. If you are not comfortable posting a load, pm me. It is 14"? with a brake. I want to use in flop position.

In both my 14" TC custom shop Contender barrel and my 15" center grip XP-100 rebarreled by Virgin Valley the below load is extremely accurate......the load also shoots very accurately in two other 14" Contender barrels that I know of.

I've never ran the load across a chrony and I've always shot both guns in the creedmore position.

Remington 221 Fireball fire formed brass.
Remington 71/2 BR primers.
18.5 grs. of AA1680.
Sierra 168 gr. #2200 bullet.

Greg, just for a point of reference - when I shot the 300 Whisper in Production and Standing I used 150 grain bullets, and never lost a hit target. I used the 180 Sierra BT in my 300 Whisper XP100. Bot loads propelled with 13.5 - 296 and CCI-400 primer
