MOA and Cast Boolits

The mfg. of MOA Maximum SPs (Gateway Precision) recommends not using cast booits. If reasonable cleaning frequency is adhered to, what have been your experiences with cast boolits in this firearm?

Thanks,

I had an original MOA in 30 Herrett years ago and shot many cast bullets in it with no issues. The MOA action does not provide any pressure to seat cast bullets into the rifling as other types of actions so I suspect that may be one reason the new company does not promote the use of CBs. When I shot my Herrett I had the bullets seated short of the rifling and had no ill affects or any problems. Accuracy was excellent. I didn't clean the barrel much and only used dry patches when I did brush out the barrel. If you get a good CB load with minimal or no leading your MOA should perform as well as, and maybe better, than other single shot handguns. Using CBs usually means less pressure anyway so your gun should last longer than using jacketed loads which probably require more pressure to perform. As long as you don't get lube down in the action during loading I can't imagine why CBs would not be usable in your MOA. Maybe the new company is just anti CBs.

My MOA in 7 BR is barreled for cast bullets. Gave Mertz a dummy round to do it.

Thank you very much for your replies.
I will start working up cast boolit loads in my MOA w/o fear of meeting Satan. (at least for these loads!!)

I have a MOA in 7BR. Back when I shot silhouettes I shot a lot of 40's and won quite a few matches with cast bullets. I did not see much difference between cast and jacketed bullets. Only the cost.
